Fleetlog GPS Tracking FAQs

Fleetlog GPS tracking FAQ's

We get asked all sorts of questions about our GPS tracking solutions and products. Please see below a selection of the most common. If your questions is not answered below please feel free to get in touch.

1. What is Fleetlog GPS tracking?

Fleetlog is a cloud-based GPS fleet tracking system that allows businesses to monitor vehicles, drivers, and assets in real time using GPS devices and mobile apps. It provides live tracking, trip history, driver behaviour reports, and automated alerts.

2. How does Fleetlog vehicle tracking work?

Fleetlog uses GPS tracking devices installed in vehicles. These devices send location and vehicle data through the mobile network to secure Fleetlog servers, where it is displayed in real time on your dashboard or mobile app.

3. Can I track my fleet in real time?

Yes. Fleetlog updates vehicle positions every 30–60 seconds, allowing you to see exactly where your vehicles are on a live map at any time. We don’t pool data and send in batches every 5 mins like our competitors. The second a position is taken it is uploaded to the Fleetlog platform for you to see live.

4. Does Fleetlog work across Australia?

Yes. Fleetlog can monitor driving behaviours such as speeding, harsh braking, acceleration, and idling, helping businesses improve safety and reduce fuel and maintenance costs. We use an advanced algorithm to then give a driver rating for each trip based on a total score of 100 providing managers the information they need to make crucial decisions.

5. Can Fleetlog track driver behaviour?

Yes. Fleetlog uses 4G mobile networks to transmit GPS data, allowing vehicles to be tracked anywhere with mobile coverage across Australia and New Zealand.

6. What types of vehicles can Fleetlog track?

Fleetlog can track cars, trucks, vans, utes, buses, heavy machinery, trailers, and basically any type of other asset using a range of wired, OBD, and battery-powered GPS trackers.

For basic vehicles you can use a plug and play OBD style tracker such as the Bolt OBD

For more advanced vehicles that require telematics we recommend the hard wired Teltonika FMC130

We have a new range of camera’s from Mitac that have in-built trackers to give you an all in one solution.

For assets we have a couple options such as the Yabby and the Manta Fusion. Both have a 10 year battery life and go into a high frequency rate when the asset starts moving. The Manta is perfect for indoor assets as it utilises not only GPS but also WiFi, Bluetooth and Cell signal to get positions. Both devices are also dust and waterproof.

7. Does Fleetlog support driver identification?

Yes. Fleetlog supports RFID driver ID cards so drivers can log in when they start a vehicle, allowing businesses to track which driver was using each vehicle. In addition, you can even disable the ignition until the driver has used the tag to assign themselves to the vehicle and also trigger a mandatory pre-start check list for that particular vehicle via the mobile app.

8. Can Fleetlog send alerts and notifications?

Yes. Fleetlog can send both email and SMS alerts for events such as speeding, entering or leaving geofences, vehicle movement, ignition events, or other configurable triggers.

9. What is geofencing in Fleetlog?

Geofencing allows you to create virtual boundaries around locations such as job sites, depots, or customer addresses. Fleetlog can notify you when vehicles enter or leave those areas. You can even generate reports using that data and also see how long a vehicle spent within a geofence.

10. Can I access Fleetlog on my phone?

Yes. Fleetlog provides mobile apps for both iPhone and Android so you can monitor vehicles, trips, and alerts from anywhere. The mobile app itself can also be used as a tracker to start and end trips manually within a vehicle.

12. Can Fleetlog help with ATO logbooks?

Yes. Fleetlog automatically records vehicle trips and can generate reports compatible with Australian Tax Office (ATO) logbook requirements. You can save hours on your reporting and with a single click change trips from business to personal and export the logbook data you need in order to lodge with the ATO or import into your accounting software.

13. Is Fleetlog easy to install?

Yes. Many Fleetlog devices are plug-and-play or simple hard-wired units that can be installed quickly without specialised tools. We provide simple instructions so that you or an installer can carry out the work and have you up and running within no time.
